Amelia Frenkel is a Partner at Keller Postman LLC. She has cross-examined fact and expert witnesses in federal court, has extensive experience preparing witnesses to deliver truthful and memorable deposition and trial testimony, and has briefed matters in trial and appellate courts and the Supreme Court. From day one of any litigation, Amelia aims to build the factual and legal foundation for clients’ success with both judge and jury.

At Keller Postman, Amelia’s work focuses on product liability and consumer protection matters. For more than a year now, Amelia has gone to work every day on behalf of preterm babies who developed necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) because they were fed Enfamil and Similac infant formula. She is responsible for day-to-day strategy and management of their families’ litigation against the formula companies, including legal briefing, fact discovery, expert development, and client management, among other important responsibilities. Amelia played a pivotal role in securing a landmark 60 million jury verdict in the first trial that held manufacturers of cow’s milk-based formula responsible for causing NEC in premature infants.

Of her past notable matters while with Keller Postman, Amelia has made a mark on the firm’s groundbreaking arbitration practice. As reported by The New York Times, Amazon removed the arbitration clause from its terms of service as a direct result of Keller Postman’s work to file roughly 75,000 individual arbitration demands on behalf of users who were recorded without permission. In this matter, Amelia oversaw dozens of client arbitrations, including supervising briefing, oral argument, and negotiation and resolution of discovery disputes. She was also responsible for filing related state court actions and client management.

Amelia was previously an associate at Wilkinson Stekloff LLP. Her experience there includes having briefed, argued, and won a precedential Title VII employment decision against the U.S. Department of State in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. Amelia also represented a class of thousands in a federal lawsuit ultimately resolved by a historic settlement with the Missouri Department of Corrections and its private medical provider.

Prior to joining Wilkinson Stekloff, Amelia was an associate at Kellogg, Hansen, Todd, Figel & Frederick PLLC and Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP.

Amelia served as a law clerk for Judge Douglas H. Ginsburg of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. She graduated magna cum laude from New York University School of Law, where she was Senior Articles Editor on the New York University Law Review. Amelia earned her undergraduate degree in government in three years, cum laude, from Georgetown University.

Amelia is licensed to practice law in the District of Columbia and Virginia only.

Quote

"I love my job. Not only do I have amazing colleagues who can go toe-to-toe with the best lawyers corporate money can buy, I also have amazing clients. Every single client comes to our firm to right past wrongs, but most would put themselves also through hell to make sure their case helps to prevent future suffering. I’m not just fighting for them—I’m proud we’re fighting together."
